The Fleurieu Peninsula is home to some of Australia's best beaches, and crispy chips and delicious battered fish are among the top two things most Australians associate with a day at the beach.

After a sun-soaked day of beach cricket and surfing, some delicious fish and chips are the perfect remedy for an empty stomach. Or maybe you're rolling out a rug in the park unwrapping a piping-hot serving of one of life's simple pleasures: a nostalgic throwback to family holidays. It is hard to resist the pull of golden, crunch, salty fish and chips on a sunshine-filled day... Plus you'll receive bonus points if you can unwrap them right on the beach with sand in between your toes.

The best fish and chips on the Fleurieu Peninsula is a hotly-debated topic, and it comes as no surprise. Here, we take our fish and chips very seriously. No matter where you are, quality fish and chips are never far away. Whether you like your fish crumbed, battered, or grilled, and your chips salt-free or heavy on the chicken salt, we've listed the top 4 (as voted by you) fish and chipperies on the Fleurieu Peninsula that we think you need to try.

PORT NOARLUNGA FISH & CHIPS, PORT NOARLUNGA

The perfect classic takeaway shop and just a short walk from the Port Noarlunga Jetty, Port Noarlunga Fish & Chips (also known as Jimmy's Fish & Chips) is absolutely buzzing with locals and regional visitors alike: queuing up to enjoy freshly hand cut chips and some of the best fish south of Adelaide.  You'll be greeted upon arrival with a beaming smile from Jimmy, Kathy & their daughter Marina. In 2022, the Leonardos' are celebrating the 30th anniversary of this iconic family owned business. While some fish and chip eateries can be hit-and-miss, Port Noarlunga Fish & Chips is consistently delicious.

Local Tip: Just a hop-skip-jump away (230m to be exact), you'll find the breathtaking natural marine playground that is Port Noarlunga Beach, perfect for safe aquatic exploration. The red sandstone beach cliffs, long jetty, and reef make it one of the iconic destinations in the state.
